Wedding Without A Photographer

John and I were down town in Indianapolis Saturday (8/26/06) afternoon checking out the canal area for a engagement-session I have scheduled for next weekend, and as we were returning to the car I noticed a lovely wedding party waiting along the curb in front of the Indianapolis Historical Society building.



I snapped a shot from down the block, and the best man shouted towards me "You're a photographer! Ours bailed on us!"

The ceremony was already over, and their photographer hadn't yet arrived.



I snapped a few shots as they waited for the limo to arrive, and left them with my business card so that they can have the few pics I grabbed of them, then headed for home.



They're such a beautiful couple, it's a shame their real photographer didn't make the wedding!

P.S. If I hadn't been wearing jeans-shorts and a t-shirt, I'd have offered to jump right into the limo with them and shoot their reception!

GoArts! GoKarts!

It was threatening to rain all day Friday. The sun would peep out for a few minutes, just long enough to tease us, and then hide away in the clouds -- nobody knew for sure if the weather man was telling the truth about the thunderstorms that were heading towards Marion Indiana, but by 1:00 in the afternoon the vendors got the thumbs up to begin setting up tents at the raceway for the 2006 GoArts! GoKarts! race to benefit the Community School of the Arts.

By 5:00 the gates opened and the stands began to fill, and at 6:00 the skies had cleared just in time for the races to begin!

Bright House cable provided five cameras to cover the race, while teams made up of local businessmen and women, Doctors, Lawyers, Bankers and politicians all climbed into GoKarts to race in heat after heat.

In the end, one team came out victorious, but the big win goes to the kids of our community who will participate in dance, music, acting and visual media arts this coming year as a result of this incredible benefit race.

Louisville Kentucky -- OSP

This weekend, I went to a seminar in Louisville KY with some of the top photographers in the midwest from Open Source Photography, where we enjoyed all day outdoor model photography sessions and a seminar on bridal album design by Robin of Bellissima Studios.

The last session of the day on Saturday was a "engagement session" with two models who had been dating for nine years. We were all let in on the secret that the "fiance" was actually going to propose to his long-time girlfriend during the session. She was under the impression that the session was just a model shoot, and didn't suspect a thing!

It was such a moving experience to see him "pop the question", and be able to get it all on camera for them!

Scenic Indiana

The weather here in Indiana has changed from blistering to pleasant this past week, and it's ideal weather for rambling about in the countryside.

This weekend has been especially nice, with the perfect mix of clouds and sunshine to allow lovely dramatic skies that really underline the sense of space here in the Hoosier state.

Next weekend I'll be off to Louisville KY and hope to bring back some lovely images from there as well!

Last Call -- Richard E. Caldwell

On Saturday August 5th 2006, Marion Indiana mourned the loss of Richard E. Caldwell -- a man who had been a beloved member of both the police force and fire department.

I was there to shoot some images, both after the service, and as the men at the fire station paid their last respects to their fallen camrade.

Our prayers go out for the family and friends of Mr. Caldwell, who miss him deeply, his friendship and devotion has touched so many lives in our community.
